RANDOM

Happy Valentines Day!

My life has been so random right now so... this blog is going to be just about everything!

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
We [Britney and myself] were 'fortunate' enough to take the city bus from Anatolia [school] back to our apartment. Well we had to wait a while for the 58 to come and when it finally did it was really full. Being American we kind of have a bubble [not the case here] and we thought it was just too crowded so we waited for the next bus to come. When it came it was about just as full so we hopped on and held on for dear life. We were kinna stuck by the door so people had to push by us. The anxiety was intense and we didn't want to miss our stop because then we would be LOST! We made it to our first stop in one piece and then we crossed to street to get on the 30. Well that bus was jam packed and we ended up LITERALLY right next to the door. I took my back pack off because it was REALLY full, and held it by my feet and Britney kept hers on...needless to say this meant trouble for her later. While making stops along the way people had to get off (obviously)...well i just had to move one way or the other. Behind me all I could hear was "signome, signome" [thats excuse me/ sorry in Greek] coming from Britney. While trying to get out of the way she kept hitting people with her back pack, HAHA. Well at the stop before our a lot of people were getting off. I was able to easily move to an open spot. When I turn around Britney is holding on to the railing [this bus had like a step on it] trying NOT to get pulled off of the bus! It was soo funny I nearly peed my pants laughing.

Then today we took the bus... [why we did it again is BEYOND me] well of course we got stuck by the door again! but the bus was not as crowded. But Britney took her backpack off this time =).

SCHOOL
Well my Greek class is going to be great. We learned some key phrases before school started but now were are doing the alphabet. Its nice because Greek is a Phonetic language! so if there is a word spelt out [like at a restaurant] i can at least sound it out! and my art class is going to be amazing. I found that the Greek students are very outspoken. Always commenting on things in class [which we were told it would be more discussion based classes] but they kinna say whatever is on their mind. On Monday we were up in the library of the high school [the college is the two buildings on the lower campus and the upper campus is the high school] and a kid came to the desk and WHISTLED at the librarian. She spoke to him in Greek and kind of told him it was rude but still did what he asked. I was APPALLED! I wanted to hit the kid upside his head. Other than that school is ok. The Greek students kind of look at us like we are aliens but maybe they will warm up to us.

SPRING BREAK TRAVEL
We started planning for our spring break trips. I'm going to Rome, Barcelona, Paris, Dublin, and then to London to visit one of my friends that is studying abroad. She finishes school that week so she's going to travel back to Greece with us. I was planning on going to Egypt but the plane tickets are a little pricey for my budget so I'll have to plan that trip some other time [honeymoon maybe or college graduation ;)] The school also has trips available for us to sign up for. They are mostly in May and I plan to do 4 of them. We go to Athens together but other students can join us if they would like, then Mykonos island, Mt Olympus, and Halkidiki Beach [I may just go there for a day with some friends because its only like a 40 min bus ride away] the trip include a boat ride to Mt. Athos which is a monastery and being a girl i cant get off the boat so i don't think i really wanna pay to do that! It will all work out I guess.

Life in general is pretty good tho. I still like Greece even despite all of the Mati [evil eye] I think I'm getting. [I'm still just getting used to the culture i think]. We are going to celebrate my birthday this weekend so thats going to be fun! I hope all is well with everyone!

Love you
